Fly The (VERYVERYVERY) Friendly Skies!

Wilkommen ... Bienvenue ... Welcome ... C'mon In!

This week we dive ever-deeper into that Marianas Trench O' Treachery with a podcast that claims -- at least several times -- to be explicit.

And we are. ;-)
The Marianas Trench O' Treachery
(Gawd, that looks vulgar!)

Just a smattering of the things we have in store for you:

  • Our great & wonderful friend "Pam", a "Qantas Flight Attendant," regales us with "tales" of the skies. And bacon.

  • Simon "accidentally" calls "Pam" by her real name, "and" then has "to" go back and edit her name "out". FUN PODCAST GAME!! --> See if you can spot the edits!

  • Greg takes full advantage of the podcast's explicit rating by expertly brushing up on his potty mouth vernacular. He's not normally like this, he swears!

  • The Joys ... no, wait ... The Terrors of Speed-Dating In San Francisco, and our cunning, dastardly disruptive designs to ... ummm ... dick with it. Hey, nobody ever said we were good at alliteration!
  • We then adjourn to our favorite pub, The Duke of Edinburgh in fan-tabulous Cupertino where we're joined by our good buddy and regular podcast guest Ashok, and the conversation gets velly velly intellesteeng ...
 Da Duke!

"How interesting?" you ask? VELLY! That's what we said!! VELLY!!! You'll just have to listen and find out, heheheh.  <-- [diabolical laughter!]

Greg's Orange County Weekend!

This week Gregamundo recounts his fabulous weekend in Orange County. He went down for a book signing by author, Chris Epting, for his new book, Los Angeles's Historic Ballparks.

Greg tells us all about his great time down there with all our friends & listeners ... and he remembered most of it, too! Who'd have thought that?

We play some music by Julie Esposito (who was also there this weekend) and who blew us away with her voice. Amazing!

Check out Julie's excellent album, Unsung Hollywood!

We give a shout out to a friend and listener from the UK, also called Simon, who's birthday it was this week ... you old fart!

Peace.

"The Podcast: Now A New Reason To Love Mondays." ™

The latest "What the Hell Just Happened Podcast" hits the wire!

This week, Gregamundo and Simundo review the past week....exciting as it was.

We talk about videotaping the podcast to show a bit on Youtube to folks, but after several people saw it, we were advised not to! Faces for radio perhaps? Who knows, but it didn't happen.

We discuss some of our favorite movies, Bae Jiao's ability to detect earthquakes, Simon's hosting of a Taiwan genius kid and how it helped with both our faiths in the younger generation.

We mentioned some Pyramids and what's on the dollar bill.....and that they're not the ones everyone thinks they are....they're in Sudan not Egypt. Here's some photos. Go take a look and compare.......we may ask qvestions later!

It's a small world.

From the odd stories section, there's this little beauty.

Peace and KMSMA.

What do Cigars, Yosemite and Big 'Things' Have in Common?

This week we have our good buddy Ashok join us. We discuss some of our more memorable trips, including a few spectacular moments in Yosemite; watching planets rise behind Half Dome, rock slides, a rather sexually-depraved ranger, and bears (unrelated topics!).

We then take the party outside with our small digital recorder, where Greg then regales us with his wondrous knowledge of trivia of Honduran cigars, Budweiser and some local landmarks.

[Editor's Note: Greg meant to say "Columbus Day 1992" instead of "2002". Could this be Greg's first senior moment?]

Wonderful Guests, A Great Weekend, Lots of Food & Fun!

This week we had a couple of wonderful guests visiting as Wendy and Akbar drove up from LA for the weekend. They joined us on the podcast......as a result there are lot of links today.

Akbar Kurtha, an actor, who's been in a bunch of movies and TV shows both here in the US and in the UK:

Akbar Kurtha

Visit his site at http://www.akbarkurtha.com/

Also, Wendy Hall, who writes a great blog about cold case crimes in Hollywood from the 1920's through to the 40s:

Saturday we had a great dinner at The Fish Market in Santa Clara:

It's a fabulous restaurant. Really, really, really fresh seafood and the staff have an excellent attitude. Did we mention that the food was really fresh?

We then nipped into our favorite pub and had a pint after dinner....but also went back for lunch on Sunday:

So, onto topics ... well ... links mentioned during the podcast today:

This is the website "rathergood.com" that we mentioned with some hysterical videos.

We reviewed some of our favorite Saturday Night Live videos on good old youtube and here are some of the ones we could put online:

And, just in case you were wondering where the backup music came from that Synchronized Swimmers video, get ready for a blast from the past ... can you say "Frank Stallone"?

A non-SNL link ... very funny and a great take on gangsta rap with a twist that was mentioned several times during the podcast ... "Read A Book!" ...

So a rather good weekend.

Monday we're up in San Francisco, meeting our buddy Karen, at the House of Prime Rib ... one of our favorite prime rib restaurants. Well try to record something during the dinner, as we'll no doubt be laughing our collective asses off. If we do, it'll be on next week's show.

And remember....."It's called Speed Stick. It's not expensive!"

Outsourcing, A Fun Week, The Census, & A Little Bit O' Health Care

This was a fun week and we packed a lot in, running over our usual 45 minutes. We get our podcast back from Apu and his buddy, who were outsourcing it.

We review the week, and the fun Greg had on St Patrick's day.....which he could remember surprisingly enough, and also Simon's various activities during the week....none of which involved woodpeckers...Hurrahhh!!!

We move onto the "Serious Shit" segment and discuss the census and a tincy wincy bit about the health care reform drama that is playing out across the country (as well as Facebook). We play the audio part of 2 youtube videos made by Jerry Day. This guy sums it all up in a way that we just couldn't and he's excellent, as rather than just banter like we do....he does his research. Oh the news channels could learn so much from him.

The big confusion at first is the difference between the census we are obliged to fill in, which is the 10-year one. This is written as law into the Constitution and yes, folks ... there are parts of it we're supposed to do. However, there is also the one that is sent out every year to about 3 million of the population, and this one asks a lot more questions. It isn't written into law, or it would seem anyway according to Jerry...and he seems to know his stuff. The government are allowed to count the population once every 10 years, and that seems to be about it, not to mention fair. Now for the legal fine print mumbo jumbo.....We should point out that, despite our enthusiasm for discussing this topic and the high spirits of doing so, we don't condone not filling in your census. We've done ours, although we answered only the questions we have to. We are not sheep, "baaahhhh", so think and do what you think is right.

OK, come up for breath ...

Then we discuss (sort of and albeit briefly), the touchy subject of health care reform. We will go into this in more detail next week, but before then we would really appreciate input from others. Please drop us a line at wthjh@yahoo.com and let us know what you think. Be nice! We're all adults here and are having a fun conversation/discussion. We won't change the government by shouting at each other. If we could we wouldn't be in Iraq now would we?!?!?!?!

The music at the end of the show is usually by the band Ozric Tentacles. Partly because we both LOVE these guys, and partly because quite a few of their tracks work perfectly for fade out music. This week, the track was part of the tune "Steep"....one of Simon's favorites.

Cool beans....and we look forward to hearing back from you all and getting that input on the Census and Health care reform.

Peace!

Greg's Fun Weekend Trip to LA, Simon's Ongoing Pest-Control Saga, A Few Weird News Stories, & JP's Traffic Report

This week we report on Greg's weekend adventures in LA, where he went to meet up with some old friends and some new ones (from Facebook) and generally had a great time. Lunch turned into an 8 hour event, and it didn't end there.....what a weekend. Simon, on the other hand, was dealing with taxes and the continuing saga of the woodpeckers that have decided his metal chimney makes a wonderful early morning treat.....waking up the household. Listen to hear how he is doing his best to stop them thinking his home is theirs too.....and no woodpeckers were harmed in the filming of this movie.

Greg does the traffic report that JP requested, replete with sound effects of the copter....the actual traffic report was read from a live feed so was accurate.....at the time.

Then we discuss some of the more stupid stories and events that have been reported in the media. Some one them just make you say to your self...."What the hell just happened?" The guy who was run over by his wife....TWICE.....certainly did.

As always, we appreciate genuine feedback and if anyone wants to submit articles/stories, soundbites to the podcast, go to the web site (http://www.whatthehelljusthappened.com/), go to the contact us link and drop us a line.
