This week we talk about Greg's current "in between jobs" situation.

Simon's weekend in San Francisco, with the highlights being:

Dinner a fancy new restaurant. Well, new as in it started in January 2011. It's called Atelier Crenn, and it's at 3127 Fillmore Street which was spectacularrrrrrr.

Simon spent a fun afternoon in Peasantpies.com, with Karen, a former guest and good friend of us and the show of course....a very fun afternoon.

The aforementioned pies....yummy indeed.

We got to hang out and speak to Charlie Corriea, a interesting artist.

The Rapture......that wasn't.

We end on a strange subject, with conflicting stories. The California Supreme court orders prison numbers reduced to save costs.

(I know, it's Fox news, but what can we do....sorry.)

But at the same time, our tax dollars at work with a prison that only has 2 inmates.....seriously, WTF?!?!?!?!.

We discussed Osama of course, and the new media's ongoing obsession with his killing.

We delve into Ron Paul's habit of being totally honest and how it will kill his political career.

We discuss a new tactic for dislodging the Taliban....porn bombs, where we drop 500 pound bombs full of hard core porn. "Burka Babes". that's distract the double standard chauvinistic Taliban if ever anything will, especially the teenage recruits who will be too distracted and happy to join up to the violence.

We discuss corporate tax and an unusual third option....one that will never work as it just makes too much sense.

The Space Shuttle Endeavor lifts off for it's penultimate flight. :-(

Home grown terrorists and how lenient should we be on them...and the potentials? That's a tough question.

The Cohiba Store again.....baby.

Yup, we're back at the Cohiba store in Santana Row, San Jose....and what a great time we had. Thanks Arbi for hosting us, and Johnny for your entertaining conversation too.

Today we run the gambit of topics, since we've got input from a variety of folks.

We initially discuss the cigars currently being smoked, and the upcoming cigar rolling event on May 26th.

We have to talk about Osama of course. Here's a funny take on it by SNL.

We briefly discuss the education system in the US and why it's in the mess it's in. It's based upon this article.

We talk about an incident in LA recently where a woman was arrested for defending herself. Johnny is a former law enforcement officer so had some great input on the subject, based upon the limited information we had.

And fun was had by all.

Excuse the occasional external noise....we recorded in a public location so there were other people about at times.

This week we welcome Simon back to this side of the pond. (He stayed over in Yorkshire for an extra week, partly to recuperate after having Greg ad Ashok there, but primarily to see family and friends.) He also happened to be there for the wedding....yup, the big Royal Wedding. He wasn't in London, but experienced it in York, and was glued to the TV along with most of the nation. Brilliant!

Greg recounts his travels home, including a lousy "South Bay Shuttle" ride from the airport to his home. Simon grumbles about the customer 'service' at New York's JFK airport.

He went to see relatives out in Ilkley and visited Ilkley Moor. There's a song, famous in Yorkshire at least, called "On Ilkley Moor Bar Tat", which translates into "On Ilkley Moor without a hat."

Greg spent the week back at work and at the Cohiba store....of course, getting back into the swing of life.

We close by discussing US wireless prices when traveling abroad, and how we get screwed by their practices and pricing.

Aye Up, Part Deux!

OUR-A CULPA

Apologies for the static on the podcast! Dunno what happened, but at least you can pretend you're listening to AM radio! :-D  We'll remedy the situation by next week's podcast, fer sure.

In the second part of our England show we start by recording in the car heading up to the Yorkshire Dales (a dale is a valley ... and yes, actual space on the web was used just to keep these typed words). Imagine both of us with mics in our hands chatting like it's nothing. We went up to see Simon's brother & sister-in-law.

We did do some re-capping before we got to the house, though ...

While we didn't actually record at Simon's bro's house, we did spend a couple nights there. The house is older than America (but beautifully updated inside ... looks totally modern), and even had a "presence" -- some guy who'd died 100 years ago and didn't know he was gone yet. Naturally, Greg freaked out about this, but Simon spoke to the erstwhile dude and gave him an out which he apparently took!

We then went back to Simon's bro's place where Greg got really acquainted with scotch. Lots. :-) Naturally, this didn't help when the ghost guy was brought up.

The next day, we continue podcastin' in the backyard of Simon's grandparents' family home, omplete with songbirds chirpin' like maniacs. We'd already left Simon's bro's place and checked into Suddaby's Inn in "downtown" Malton. Simon jammed with a few friends of his, and even let Greg up on stage to rock the crowd with his loungy "Mack The Knife!" Good thing we didn't record that, haha!

That day, we went back into York and picked up Ashok, our regular contributor, who was in town to do some things up in Scotland (he'll update on that next time we have him on the podcast). So The Three Amigos enjoyed the evening at Suddaby's, where they hosted a local beer festival. During the festival, Greg & Ashok were approached by a really cool guy called Hugh. When he left, other locals in the pub let us know that he owned over 7,000 acres between Malton & Whitby. When Hugh came back, he invited us to his estate! Simon couldn't make it, but Greg & Ashok sure as heck went. Greg had the foresight to bring the recorder, and our recording (though somewhat staticky) is here for your listening pleasure. :-) You'll have to imagine the area he spoke of, because Greg doesn't have the pics up yet. Still, Greg found this pic online:

We continue our chat about all kinds of things, from silent wrens to bumblebees (freaking Greg out) to the state of military affairs. We'll see if we can connect with Hugh on Skype sometime, if not head back over for another visit.

And with that, we wrap things up in the bakyard of Simon's grandparents' place and call it a vacation in Yorkshire!
